    Not much fun

The voice detector did not work correctly. We sang loud and it attempted to release the sled at the appropriate time, but unfortunately the sled never slid on its own. Like others I too wound up doing a manual release. I am sure glad I paid [...] when Amazon had it on special. Certainly not worth more than that.

So glad I bought this despite mixed reviews!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My girls are 3 and 6… they like the Grinch, and they like to sing. I figured this was a win-win, but the mixed reviews had me a small worried. The game is as sturdy as I would expect a kid’s cardboard game to be, and we had no problems making the sleigh go down the track; it worked for us consistently. We have had no problems with this game whatsoever, and we’ve played it everyday for the last week. If you’re on the fence, buy it…. really, it’s an awesome game that encourages teamwork.

    Excellent for much younger kids.

My largest gripe with this toy is that it is improperly labeled, as far as ages go. My son would have loved this at three-years-ancient, but at 7, not so much! He found it really dull. We passed it along to a friend with preschoolers, and they loved it more. It really is much more fun for the small ones.

    Hilarious Fun
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this game for my grandchildren who are 6 and 8 years ancient. I was astonished to find that we had a blast playing it! The kids and I played for over an hour, which is a long time because this game requires energy and patience! They question for it every time they come over. Honestly, it takes awhile to place together the first time you play and then you have to break it down to place it away, but when I reckon of the teamwork and the hilarity that happens when we play, it is worth it! Rather than compete against each other, the players all form a team against the Grinch and that is wonderful! I reckon the kids like that, too. Sometimes the sleigh will start after only about 20 seconds of singing but they vary it and sometimes the sleigh takes a couple of minutes of singing to start down the slope. Overall, one of the most fun buys I have ever made for the grandkids. I rated it a 4 out of 5 only because I am sure it will break down and not last as long as the many times the kids will probably want to play it.

It is a fun thought. But, we certainly did sing out heart out and the grinch sleigh just does’nt work right!

    Frustrating!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This game is style over substance. I tried to play this with my 4 year olds. Admittedly, they loved playing with the game pieces while I labored to place the game together. It does not go together easily or seem very stable even when assembled. The heavy mechanism sits precariously at the top of the cardboard mountain and the sleigh sits even more precariously at the edge of the mechanism. A 3-D game board is a clean thought but SO poorly conceived. In the end, the sleigh NEVER released while we sang our hearts out. It did release a couple of times without anyone singing and when pushed the sleigh would crash off the track on the edge of the mountainside. Eventually the kids lost interest so we never really “played” the game as intended. After all the time to assemble, it was incredibly frustrating that it didn’t work right.

    who doesn’t like to shout?
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
quite a fun game, and I was really sad to place it away with the Christmas stuff and will be delighted to bring it back out next year. Caveat… depending on how much else Santa leaves, he may not feel like setting this up on Christmas Eve. It took maybe 10 minutes, but those are precious minutes on Christmas Eve! The main issue for me was getting the sled track to stay together. Once I got that, the rest was no problem whatsoever. It’s fantastic fun for the kids and the grownups to shout their favorite Christmas tunes, and my absolute favorite part of the game is that the players aren’t competing against each other, but are playing as a team against the grinch. Glad I bought it.

Is this a pain to place together? Yes. Does the singing detector work perfectly? No. Is it fun? YES!

    The kids loved it
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
In looking at the reviews, I wasn’t going to buy the game, but finished up buying it. I’m not dissappointed. I reckon that it took a small time to assemble, but not an unreasonable amount. We did find that you had to sing loudly to get it to work, but it did work for every song. We loved singing the songs. We’ve played the game a couple of times and loved it. I reckon that the game is fascinating to look at and it made the kids excited to play it.

Voice detector doesn’t work- game play isn’t fun
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We were disappointed that the voice detector in this game didn’t work. It never released the sleigh when we sang the songs. So, we just did this manually. But, even if the voice detector had worked, this game wouldn’t have been a lot of fun. It’s pretty tedious and dull. My kids- 6 and 3 loved it a small bit at first, but got pretty bored with it after a while. We like board games, but this game isn’t very well thought out and is cheaply made.

    Disappointed…really wanted to sing!
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my 5 year ancient grandson. I reckon the motivation was that my daughter and I couldn’t resist it…lol. I could swear the ratings were higher when I bought it! With this game, when the time is right, everyone gathers around the Grinch’s sled and sings until the sled can hear. Once the sled registers our singing, it is released and hurtles down the mountainside full of presents. When the presents spill out, depending on the position they land on, you are rewarded, or not. Most of them land in the incorrect position. Oh, and the sled doesn’t release, not to mention putting it together is challenging each and every time.

The grandson was understandably bored. The game is slow in coming to the point and victory takes too long! We were all kind of bored with the exception of all of us singing our hearts out in an attempt to get the blasted sleigh to drop. At that point we were all laughing as we timed the song to ensure it passed the 20 second range and then some. We really started shouting as though it were a competition.

Admittedly, you can make your own game rules but this might involve cheating.

    Glad I only paid $5
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Like I said I’m glad I only paid $5. The game worked the first night and after that it didn’t matter how loud we sang that sleigh would not release. Minor issue, because you just have to tap it and it falls. But the actual instructions and way the game play out doesn’t really work. I’m all for the team against the Grinch but they make it nearly impossible to beat and let’s face it this game is for toddlers and for them to never ever win is no fun. So we altered it so we could win every now and then. We do a Christmas activity every day until Christmas, so the game served it’s purpose and the kids had fun. I only paid $5 on a lightning deal and thankfully so it’s not worth the $24 list price for all the adjustments that need to be made.

    When/If it works
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The bottom line on this toy is that it worked inconsistently and erratically, causing undue frustration all around. I am of the mind that too many new games have jumped the shark in trying to be unique and fascinating. This is one of them. I do like that the game is cooperative, in that all the players work together, rather than competitively, but unfortunately that well-meaning thought does not outweigh the serious flaws in this toy.

Fantastic Grinchy Fun for Preschool – Early Elementary Kids
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this game on sale at the end of last year for a quarter of the price for which it is listed today. It was sitting in my closet of future birthday/holiday presents when my five year ancient son stumbled upon it and liberated it. We played it for the first time on Thanksgiving and my children (ages 11, 8, 5, and 4 years) had a blast. At first the 11-year ancient wanted no part of it, I’m sure because he deemed Dr. Seuss too babyish, but he couldn’t resist joining the fun once he saw the game in action. This is not a game I’d expect children to want to play every night, but mine have requested it most nights since they learned it. Truth be told they play one or two rounds, which is plenty for everyone in the house as it does tend to get rather loud and scream-y rather than melodic. For what I paid it’s a fun game that brings them all together.

The game is a bit hard for the kids to place together, and if roughly handled would not hold up to the constant assembly and dis-assembly it will require. At our house, an adult has been in charge of putting it together and storing the pieces at the end of play. Unlike other reviewers we have had no problems with the sleigh not going on its own. On one song, which I reckon was a quieter song, possibly Frere Jacques, it didn’t go straight away and the kids had to sing another verse. The directions are clear that you must sing for 20 seconds and loud, and my goodness do my kids get loud!

Overall fun toy that teaches teamwork and taking turns.

Doesn’t work very well. The first one didn’t work at all. The second one wasn’t much better. It takes a long time to set it up. We had to sing so loud to make it go and other times the sleigh went without us singing.

Simple to play – all ages can participate – cooperative play
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We’ve owned this game for about a year and we’ve played it a few times (we’d play it more, but my poor ears can only take so much!!) The kids have an absolute ball with this game… they just sing their hearts out and the sled comes crashing down – lots of fun for them… but kids can sing LOUD! So, if you’ve got sensitive ears, get some ear plugs! :-)

We’ve never had a problem with this game – it was simple to place together and has operated flawlessly every time we’ve played. The pieces are sturdy cardboard, so it should hold up pretty well with use. If you have very young kids (6 and under) this is a fantastic game… older kids could get bored with it as it’s a very basic concept.

For my kids, we added the singing of “Welcome Christmas” from the Grinch movie once all the Who’s have gotten their gifts and have formed a complete circle – we join hands and sing around the table… they like it.

No matter how loud, hard and long you sang the sleigh didn’t go. My 4 1/2 year ancient autistic grandson got very upset about it. I feel I just threw my money down the drain. What a shame – a fantastic concept!!

This is a fantastic game that doesn’t pit one player against another, rather it’s up to all the players to work together to win the Christmas presents from the Grinch. Works well to teach co-operation and looking to help others type skills. Any age can play and delight in it!

I first found the new line of games at Children’s Hospital therapy center. These are incredible games, before you know it you too are having fun. These are fantastic gifts, I wish they came with the books. I gave several different ones as gifts and the amusing thing each parent on the side said they would make fantastic drinking games????????? That has yet to be tested lol…

Who-the-heck can get it to work?
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
When I bought this game for the family, I saw us around the kitchen table singing and laughing the evening away, til the kids bedtime anyway. Not to be.

After assembling everything, which was quite simple, and putting new batteries in the “voice thing”, the game started. Soon my daughter picked a “sing a song” card. So, we, (that’s 3 adult’s and 3 children sing 2 verses of Wheels On The Bus with no action at all. Bottom line the “voice activated sled release mechanism” refused to work. We tried numerous times and all attempts failed.

I should have been wary when I saw the price. We are going to give it one more shot. If it works, I’ll let you know.
